The Bennewitz quartet was found in 1998. In the international view is one of the best chamber ensembles, which have proofed with many wins in prestigious competitions - f. e. in Osaca in 2005 and Prémio Paolo Borciani in Italy in 2008.
The quartet is also a winner of a pristigious Classic Prague Award in the category "chamber performance 2018".
Nowadays the quartet performs a concerts in significant Czech and foreign stages and festivals - f. e. Salzburger Festspiele, Luzerne Festival, Dvořákova Praha and the Prague Spring Festival.
Apart from their shows is the quartet presenting itself by a unique repertoire choice. They also put emphasis on presenting Czech music, including great and unjustly ignored composers such as L. Dusík, A. Rejcha, P. Haas, V.Ullmann, E. Schulhoff, H. Krása.
The ensemble is named after violinist Antonín Bennewitz (1833 - 1926), that was one of the founders of Czech violin school.
