Petra Vondrová
Mezzo-soprano Petra Vondrová was born in Kolín, where she also got her first musical education in elementary artist school of František Kmoch. She graduated from Prague conservatory class led by Brigita Šulcová in 2012. Apart from that, she also graduated from economics at Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. Actually she studies at Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, led by prof. Madalena Hájossyová. Apart from daily studying, she also attended master courses at Karlovy Vary, led by prof. A. Carangel, prof. N. Hillebrand and prof. M. Blahušiaková and singing course led by Dagmar Pecková in Prague.
Petra is laureate of Antonin Dvorak's International Singing Competition and winner of the following prizes: Prize of J. K. Tyl Theatre, Prize of F.X. Šalda, Prize of International music festival Prague Spring, Prize of festival Mahler 2000 and Madaléna Hájossyová’s Prize of Bel canto singing. Among the other competition successes belongs 2nd place at competition Prague singer of year 2011.
During her studies, she participated on rendition of child opera The little sweep from Benjamin Britten. Rendition took place under the patronage of Church gymnasium in Prague and Petra played the role of Miss Baggott. Her professional singer career started in 2012 at the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, where she renditioned Puccini’s opera Gianni Schicchi, playing the role of treacherous Zitta. Within the project Opera Piccola di Praga, Petra hosted at the Theatre Rigiblick in Zürich, Theatre Wintertour and City theater Langenthal with opera of Swiss author P. Burkhard, Spiegel Das Kätzchen, playing the role of witch Begine. Since 2010, she also represents the Czech Republic on receptions held by embassies of Czech and Korean Republic.
Since 2012, Petra hosts at J.K. Tyl Theatre as a blind mother Cieca (Ponchielli: La Gioconda), Martha (Gounod: Faust), Panna Róza (Smetana: The Secret) and at F. X. Šalda’s theatre in Liberec as Preziosilla (Verdi: La forza del destino), Prince Orlowsky (Strauss: The Bat) and a witch and Third wood sprite (Dvořák: Rusalka).
Petra co-operates for several years with young and successful composer Zuzana Michlerová and played in premiere of Zuzana’s opera Pramen and cantata Médea.
Within her artistic performance, Petra cooperates with prominent Czech musical directors like František Drs, Tomáš Brauner, Jiří Štrunc, František Babický, Miriam Němcová, Pavel Baxa and more.
